Any app with a reasonably- sized feature set cannot be covered in 325 characters. If your app really only does one thing, that's fine, but if it has a number of different selling points - each requiring a bit of description - it simply takes more space than that. Every time I add a feature, I need to decide what OTHER feature I'm going to remove from my app description. It's pathetic. Especially since there's no official changelog functionality... The only way to inform existing users of what's new BEFORE they install is to use some of your app description, either to list changes directly or to say something like "See website for changelog" (and that's 8% of your character limit right there). ____ Taking the wider view, I think this petition covers the major Market shortcomings quite well. John's critique shows that different devs have different priorities, but overall, I think most of us are represented here.
