Last year, at Google IO, over 4000 HTC Magic (MyTouch) devices were given away. In accounting terms, it's called a budget for promotional goods. If Google has the budget, why knock them? I'm going to be extremely happy to get an N1 or Droid to use for testing my apps. I've been wanting to update them for quite a while and haven't been satisfied with the emulator, now I will be able to do so, and add advertising (just got accepted into the AdSense beta) as well.
By the way Google has been doling out these gadgets, every developer who has actually tried to create something should have a couple of devices to test with. That, I believe is the reasoning behind this. To me, it seems like a rock solid investment, not a desperate ploy. -John Coryat -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
