I agree with Brandon here. Calling out comments in my weekly
newsletter has been effective in getting other people to comment and
sometimes contradict the complainers.
I do that on my blog occasionally. Unfortunately some miscreant has
taken to spamming my blog comments leading me to close them after a week
or two. I have to approve comments but this jerk is a pain in the butt
and I mark him as spam and whatever I can to get the host to bar them
from their blogs.
I have been more reluctant to use valuable space in my description,
but based on your success, I might consider it. There's plenty of room
at the bottom, of course, but no one reads that far.
Some of my comments are asking for features that are already there.
What I've found is a lot of users don't know that "Menu" can be used for
the app too and they've never even pressed it when the app is running.
