I have seen a posting saying that this is not the forum for suggesting
improvements to Android but
1) it is described as a general discussion forum so why not suggestions?
2) I have not been able to find any more appropriate forum, perhaps Google
should create and promote one?

My suggestion is to make 'search' a constantly available part of the UI. The
search button is a really useful feature on my HTC Desire, I didn't realise
just how much I valued it until I got an Acer tablet and it is missing. Apps
that perform search in lots of sensible places on the phone (eg K9) do not have
it as a menu option in all screens so functionality on the tablet is limited.
I see the SDK guidance says search is a central part of android and all data
should be searchable, so why isn't there a search button fixed with 'back',
'home' and 'recent'?

Thanks,
Luke
