I'll bet the developer reply to comments is going to come out of beta now. 
I think Google has been stuck with this feature due to the problem of 
"threads" in the comments. Right now, there's no history, just one comment 
replacing another. Perhaps now that there's a G+ account linked, it will 
also be possible to create a meaningful thread. 

The way the reply to comments thing works now creates a confusing mess if 
there are multiple replies. Google's approach as it exists in the beta just 
cautions developers not to start a conversation. That works in a beta but 
won't in real life.

With a thread based system and no anonymous posting, the comments system 
will have accountability and also history. This will help users and 
developers communicate in a manner that will help users in general and 
improve the experience for everyone.
