I was looking into reflashing my WCF-11 to enable me to use it with WPA on OpenZaurus. If I had been able to, I might not be having my current dilemma. Reflashing it requires recompiling the program, which I can't do on the Zaurus (no compiler) and don't have the Linux host with bitbake or whatever to compile externally.
Bottom line is that I'm glad that people like Marcin are willing to help out by providing safer software and yet allow us to continue to advance with the newer OS. It would not be a tragedy for me to "toast" a WI-FI card, but for many others it would be. As a PC support professional (Windows) I know well how appropriate the proverb "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing". I fully support Marcin's policy of not making it too easy for users to hurt themselves. If you have the knowledge, patience and equipment necessary, by all means have at it, but do so at your own risk.
