Not 'contributed back'. The GPL requires that if you distribute
binaries, you must provide the _recipients_ with either the source for
those binaries, or a written offer to do so. Licences that require
that you 'contribute back' typically do not qualify as either free or
open source.

(If you'll recall, this was the point on EchoNest's data release that
dampened my enthusiasm :)
