A business infers that its purpose is to make a profit. APNIC Pty Ltd (the
legal entity in which members interact with and that provides services
across the service region) is a not-for-profit company governed by its
by-laws, which determine how it can operate. If Members choose not to
engage in the community, this is their right not to do so, although I
strongly encourage them to.

I'm not attempting to attack your hidden identity. Rather, I'm encouraging
you to speak up and reveal who you are, and people might just take what you
have to say a little more seriously. For once, you're right, using my real
identity doesn't inherently prove the truthfulness in what I say. However,
it does prove that I am a real person where people can see my active
engagement within the internet community and I hope that they will at least
consider what I have to say. I will say though, the timing in your email is
impeccable. It seems that before every APNIC member meeting and Executive
Council election, the process and the organisation consistently comes under
attack and individuals/organisations seem to attempt to call their ethics
and decisions into question. Fortunately, the vast majority of members who
vote, agree with the fact that APNIC must be protected from those who have
ill-will towards it.

For what it's worth, I'm not attempting to gain the support of the
Secretariat. They must remain impartial in any discussions that take place
and you'll find that you will only see them respond when either (a) the
question is regarding factual information relating to services, training or
resources they provide or (b) the topic is regarding APNIC's corporate
governance. I think you'll find that my engagement and reasoning is vastly
different to that of the NRS.

Shame we'll miss you at APRICOT though, for someone that only pays APNIC in
order to obtain IP resources, you sure seem to have an interest in what
goes on.

Regards,
Christopher Hawker
