I've been using Todo since the first release. I've tried others (the
free/lite versions) to see what others are doing but happily keep
coming back to Todo. The service and response are excellent which
helps as well.

For tasks and events, I live in 3 applications, Todo, Outliner, and
Calendar. I don't do very much contact oriented work but what I need
(like Call Joe Smith) Todo handles admirably. In fact, it's so
seamless I never thought about it until now. I would not want Todo to
become a contact manager any more than it already is.

On the other hand, one big improvement for me would be a built-in
calendar. The current calendar app is pretty basic and I'm used to
using full task/event managers on the Treo. I switched to an iPhone
last September. We use Lotus Notes at work, so calendar syncing
between work and home (Outlook) and my smartphone is a thing of the
past. I routinely enter an event into my iPhone as well as into my
work calendar. At least the iPhone syncs to Outlook on my home laptop.

I use Outliner for projects and multi-level checklists. For example,
my Spring task list is broken down by areas around the house that need
work, both inside and outside. The ability to expand/collapse and mark
things complete or incomplete as a group helps a lot. Todo is not an
outliner nor a complete project management tool, nor do I necessarily
expect that. I do have a task that says "Check Spring List" which will
recur until I finish. It would be nice to be able to open Outliner
when I tap that task, but that's a nice to have rather than a
necessity.

Everything else is handled in Todo. Tasks, reminders, shopping lists,
even notes. I prefer to have it in one place that I always look.

I don't use contexts or tags. I found that I want to see everything
all the time. Mind you, I only have a few hundred tasks. Before there
were contexts and tags, I made lists titled Home, Work, Shopping, etc.
I've just left those. I rarely need to be so organized that I make a
series of phone calls, or a series of computer tasks, etc.

My work tasks are more often reminders, although there are a few of
the "I have to do this by <date>" type of task. I don't filter very
often. On the other hand, Search is fantastic. I search all the time.
For example, I have a task titled Next Car Checkup with notes as to
what will need to be done. It's dated roughly when I expect to need to
make the appointment for the next checkup. If something comes up, I
search for "car" and add the entry. I could make this a project or
checklist but just haven't bothered yet. I have the same thing for
doctor's appointments.

I do have a list that is titled Someday/Maybe, as in the GTD approach.
These are things I'll get to someday and usually have lots of
subtasks.

My shopping and errands list is set up as a project with a due date of
Jan 1, 2009, so it always appears at the top under Overdue. I add
items as needed and usually delete them. I don't use it for recurring
grocery type items. Still on paper with that because I don't like
having my iPhone out in grocery stores.

I use Todo for notes as well. For example, I keep track of money in
Quicken and if I spend cash and don't get a receipt, I'll add a task
with the amount spent. Then I enter it into Quicken at night.

While I sync to Toodledo, it's mainly a backup to me. I rarely go
there to change something. I'd prefer a local backup to my home laptop
but at the moment it would have to be Windows.

I used to use a lot of sticky post-it notes. I use a few these days
but far fewer than I used to. That's due to the ease of use of Todo.
