I just dug out the "sneak peek" issue of Quality Computer's IIAlive magazine--unfortunately the date of publication isn't on here, but this was put out somewhere near the end of the A2 heyday, IIRC.

At the time this was printed, they were using the latest RAM chips in their boards, so I suspect the prices reflect the current costs then. (BTW, I remember buying a bank of 1 meg memory for my RamWorks card for the //e and it costing me close to $100, from a computer dealer--and I thought I was getting a bargain!)

QC's own Q-RAM GS card:

1-meg: 99.95
2-Meg: 149.95
4-meg: 249.95

The above cards used SIMMs. They had a card that used older chips (DIMMS? Not sure, I'm not the hardware guy around here. :) ) Called the Q-RAM GS2, 4-meg for $199.95. A bit cheaper but still a lot compared to today's prices.

Their 1-meg card for the //e went for $99.95. (Granted, the //e's card also has to handle 80-col work.(

They also sold RAM chips per bank:

256k: $19.95
256x4K 19.95
1 MEG 39.95

At those prices, Bill's card is, since he's using more modern RAM, a bargain. :) (they advertise a 2400 baud modem for $89.95 too, if that give you some perspective in pricing back then. :) )

Later.................Howard
