Bill and all,

I can VIVIDLY remember buying an EMPTY RamFactor from Applied Engineering for $145 (I think; the price of the bare card isn't vidid, but wait...) in 1989.

Then I went to the local memory vendor in San Diego, to a place that was famous for having the best prices nationwide, (but its name escapes me - was it The Memory Exchange?) and bought 32 (that's thirty-two) individual memory chips for $332.

In other words, I bought a 1-meg ram card for $477 for an Apple //e.

So when I can now buy a card with 4 times the memory and 1/10th the cost, well, that makes me VERY happy. So happy, in fact, that I am now buying a GS, a machine that I've never personally owned before. Bill, as soon as it arrives, you've got another customer.

And as to why to have 8-megs? If I were to have that card, I'd make a hell of a big ramdisk along with all that workspace RAM. In the meantime, a 4-meg will do nicely.

BTW, there are quite a few people hollering for 8 MB cards, and
if I can do it, I just may, but I'm still a little confused why
anyone needs that much.
