Well, I'm willing to be morale support for anyone who wants to take it on. :) I've done my share of C++ under Win32 in the past but I've never done anything on Apple hardware.
That would be cool to play MP3 on IIgs, and with 32+ hard drives now, you can fit 3-4+ on a partition.
Or create an HFS partition and fit as many as you want. Assuming the player is GS/OS-based.
