The batteries don't recharge from the computer. A few brave folk did try replacing them, but I think you'd need to be VERY good at soldering to work on something that small.

Since the batteries were rated at 10 years, I think the manufacturer wasn't concerned with longevity, and figured no one would be using the computers that long. Silly bean-counters. :)
