Clearing the cobwebs of my //gs memory card makers I remember a //gs card maker out of Minneapolis/Saint Paul Minnesota area that made a 4 meg ram card for the //gs for around $35.00 years back. I owned several of these cards in years past and thought they were well made. But the 1 meg simm ram chips were $85.00 back then also. When the price of the 1 meg simms finally dropped to a cheap level the //gs was about dead by then. I wonder why the Rom 03 //gs logic boards are hard to find. Recently I went through about 40 //gs computers that were being trashed and none of them were rom 03 versions. I owned 3 service stock rom 03 //gs boards years ago and sold them for 200.00 each to another Apple dealer for his repair stock. I should have kept 1 of them. I had a friend who was visiting a local Apple dealer in Minneaplois many years ago and the service department Manager told him that he could have anything he wanted from the back room as all of it was going in the dumpster. He called me and I told him about the //Gs rom 03 boards and my friend filled his van full to the top with Apple service stock boxes still sealed with tape. I saved a Apple ///+ logic board, memory board and keyboard from that . I was able to sell most of the stock back to Apple by using another local dealer. I gave him 50% of the buyback price and he gave me $3500.00 cash as my share. Not bad for a 140 mile trip to Minneaplois and back. I had lots of Lisa 1 boards and twiggy drives that I sold back to Apple cheap . Those were the days.

I am totally in agreement here as well, and if someone else had a product that would help the Apple II community, I surely would NOT attempt to keep someone from getting one. To blow the money for the chips to upgrade the 1MB card is futile since down the road most people will want more ram. I think 4 MB is plenty, but if people want 8 MB, I'm damned well going to try to give it to them. :o) : I think people want 8MB upgrades just because that is the highest they can : get, not because they need it. People expand their machines to silly levels : all the time just because they can, its fun to do it, and some for bragging : rights. I see Mac folks all the time saying that they have the latest and greatest stuff in their machines, and although I see little to no need for most of it, I'll defend their right to expand as much as they want. :o) Bill Garber -- Apple2list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Apple2list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/apple2.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:apple2list@mail.maclaunch.com> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/apple2list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> iPod Accessories for Less at 1-800-iPOD.COM Fast Delivery, Low Price, Good Deal www.1800ipod.com -- Apple2list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Apple2list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/apple2.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:apple2list@mail.maclaunch.com> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/apple2list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> iPod Accessories for Less at 1-800-iPOD.COM Fast Delivery, Low Price, Good Deal www.1800ipod.com -- Apple2list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Apple2list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/apple2.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:apple2list@mail.maclaunch.com> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/apple2list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> iPod Accessories for Less at 1-800-iPOD.COM Fast Delivery, Low Price, Good Deal www.1800ipod.com
