Here's what you need to do so that you can continue to use 4DOS/Arachne.
(without running command.com)
Load mime.cfg into a text editor.
Remove every occurrence of [nnn] in mime.cfg
;file/*.mes >HTM|[140]$einsight.exe -i $1 -cache=$t>$2
; ^^^^^ ;
These are the memory tests that don't seem to work when using 4DOS.
By removing those numbers, you've removed the source of the problem.
