Hi Gregy;

A bit of an uncharacteristic rant eh wot ? <G>

I wholeheartedly agree with your (and Glenns') post re: bloat and new
tricks. I'm not interested in some of the EXISTING glitz like animated
.gifs for example.

Javascript and https ? Well, my browser handles javascript after a fashion,
but I find the safest way to surf is with js off. *Almost* crash proof.
You might try that, instead of waiting for the script to "crank up".

HTTPS ? My browsers' certificates became invalid as of the end of 1999.
To get a new and valid certificate I am told I must upgrade to NS some
ridiculous bloated number. That's not going to happen. I will live with
it and now, on this score, NS2.02 and Arachne are equal.

But, an important point I want to make here is that we do need something !
In order to surf safely, we need to be able to RECOGNIZE js and ignore it.

That's my senile opinion. <g>
