He HAS !!!!
But the reactions forced him, to make it a bit more compatible ....
IMHO Internet Exploder has still MANY quirks in JS support ...
PS: I don't consider this behaviour smart, IMHO it's the worst thing
anybody can do !!
Or do you also think that it was great, that Windows had a 'bug' preventing
Windows to run with DrDOS properly ??
Or what do you say to the 'bug' that sends parts of your registry to a
microsoft internet server ??
IMHO this is NOT smart .... this is silly !!!!!!!

:)))
I really haven't !

Turn it off ... :)))

No problem ... turn it off ....
Arachne does this automatically for you :))
But sadly she has many problems ignoring it .. also when the script is
corretcly put in a comment, and therefore shouldn't be parsed !!

I have never used Internet Exploder, and I _NEVER_ will ...
but this is another category of idiots making webpages.
JS was designed to give more possibilities, if the browser supports it, and
should be ignored, if the browser does not support it.

SH> I realize that there are technical differences between Java Script

Yes ... there are some minor differences ... :)))
Like heaven and hell :)
JavaScript is a very small interpreted language.
JAVA is a full featured, platform independant language, which is mainly
used to write 'normal' programms, but it has also the possibility to make
Applets (programms run in the browser's sandbox)
Actually there are some EXTREMELY good things you can do with an Applet ...
but 99.9999% are extremely silly little animations, or moving flags, or
other unnecessary stuff ...
SH> but because of my well-founded prejudices in this regard, I will
SH> stereotype all of the above as bad.
Don't you think that this is not a good basis for a discussion ??
Eg with Java you can write a program once, compile it to bytecode, and run
it on EVERY computer and OS, that has a Java Virtual Machine ...
Eg it runs under Windows, Solaris, VMS, BE, Linux, BSD, HP-UX, AIX .......
Without any change in the code !!
It's not as fast as C++, but it has an amazing variety in support
libraries.
(I had the same prejudices as you ... but this year I'm forced to write
some programs in Java ... and it really is not that bad)
PS: M$ tries to extinct Java (and reied it with JavaScript) this is for me
a sign, that Java is NOT bad !!!
SH> When you hold a prejudice against an entire category, you aren't
SH> interested in making distinctions among sub-categories.
But they are NOT in the same category ..
With JavaScript you can change the image under the mouse, popup a Window,
store a cookie, and basically that's it (ok .. there are some other things
...)
With Java, you can write Office suits, you can write EXCELENT distributed
systems (with the help of Remote Message Invocation, CORBA ...)
SH> Furthermore, you will have a natural inclination to

Than we are VERY different :)))
I hear what other people say, and think if it makes sense ...
SH> Such is the nature of prejudice, and it is OK for us to hold
SH> prejudices that don't involve hatred of other people.
Sure it is OK ... but one can also change his/her views ....
SH> Turning off JS will quite frequently prevent you from accessing any

Idiotic webmasters !!
But saying that we should all abandon Computers, because some people use
them to hack into other computers is not a good solution in my point of
view !

It is meant that way !

He can't ... the developers INSIST that it can display it ...

Except those who like JS ....
And there are many (not necessarily including myself)

?? Why not abandon the internet .... you will not have any slow downloads,
or crowded sites !

SH> Why are they happy with it?
Ask them not me ...
They like the design possibilities it offers.
SH> What kind of essential browsing functions can you accomplish with JS

Why are there HTML versions greater than 1.0 ??
1.0 did offer every essential browsing function ....
