Have you tried using PAP/CHAP?

Change to this in arachne.cfg (and make sure that your password and login
are entered correct).
UseTerminal No
Autologin No

You can also change so that "Show Terminal" and "Auto Login" don't have any
"x" in their boxes on the dial page.
