Ah. I see. The .conf is not an extension - just part of the filename.
But you, and others, have missed the question.
My FAMILIAR editor is a DOS editor.
Since the filesystem is UMSDOS, I can do all my editing in DOS.
It's my EDITOR that will object to .conf <G>

Ok, I'll edit in DOS (for now) and change the name with Linux.
