Java and Javascript are not the same, as unrelated as potato and sweet potato,
or rabbit and Welsh rabbit. Javascript is generally used for WWW applications,
though there is a standalone Javascript. I believe I found it (OS/2 version) on
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu. Java tends to be bound with the Internet but is not
really Internet-specific. There is a multiplatform HotJava Web browser by Sun.
I tried the OS/2 version, but it was rather bloated and clumsy.

I think I read about a move to standardize Javascript under the name ECMAScript
but haven't heard anything further about ECMAScript recently.
