I found Arachne 1.60 and 1.61 to be much faster than 1.50b2 and 1.48, which were
pathetically slow for me. I have 1,62 set up but haven't taken it online yet,
though I have used it to view one or two email messages offline.
If Arachne 1.62 is too slow, you still have alternatives to Windows, such as
Linux. Emacs, whose W3 can be used as Web browser, is likely to come with a
Linux distribution. You can download Amaya from http://www.w3.org/Amaya, and
there is Netscape, and then there is Arachne for Linux under development.
