Of course there is a future for DOS-like things.
To put Linux in palm portables or settop thingys is pointless.
Linux is best at multi-USER functions. It's hard to get more than one
person using the palm pilot at a time.
The incredible fatness of Linux compared to DOS could never be justified
in such a resource limited environment.
There's more than one way to make a GUI. Look at all the portable games.
