There is no wizardry required if you don't want to beta test it. You can
even skip the selection of XMS and VGA if you keep hitting ESC on that
screen until it gives up. It might be just as easy to give in and enter
"0", "0" and altX when the Video setup screen comes up tho.

Me too. But it is being shipped for newbies. When a version comes out that
survives for three days without a memory leak or xSwap error, I'll zip it
for you. <G>

You haven't been paying attention in class or doing your homework.
See my reply to Sam Ewalt. <g>

And Mime.cfg - which can change due to upgrades. Arachne.cfg is mostly
static between versions.

Hmmm?? Yes. So what ? You can either copy it from version "a" to "b" or
simply point to it properly with absolute paths.

More classroom time required. The headers mean nothing. They are there to
help YOU organize your mind or your .cfg. See Keywords.txt - the intro.
ACFs are copies of YOUR various .cfgs with names hopefully meaningful to
you to allow easy switching between your ISPs or different setups.
The Fastpc/Slowpc.acfs etc. are used by Arachne as starting points for
newbies using Wizards. Delete them. Name your own !

Somebody is using funny smoke.

Burn them.

Actually, I can't give real advice on this subject - I hate them.
Like you, I prefer .ZIPs and manual installs.

Yes, that's an idea. But I got lucky - it was only the wizard that had
any trouble. My old arachne.cfg worked fine.
