Your machine has a "winmodem".
It wiil work just fine while inside of W98.
It will not work at-all after shutting-down win or is you go directly to
the DOS prompt at boot-up and don't run win at-all.
My advice....
Remove that piece of junk from the machine and get a real modem.
(use the winmodem for target practice with the gun of your choice) ;-)
