Sam,

When my TrippLite UPS battery went bad and it no longer provided backup
power, it was still working as a surge protector. Since we have storms
around here with lightning 12 of the 12 months of the year, I did not
want to leave my system unprotected. But I didn't have to. TrippLite
sent the replacement UPS along with the RMA and a prepaid return lable
to ship the bad unit back to them.

When my Travan tape drive went bad I couldn't really use it to store
data any longer, but it would read the backup files. It wouldn't have
been too inconvenient to ship the drive back and wait for a replacement,
but I didn't have to. HP [who bought out Colorado] sent the replacement
along with an RMA and a pre-paid return lable to ship the bad unit back
to them.

That, sir, is why a decent auto shop provides you with a loaner. That
is why Enterprise Car Rental picks you up and drives you to their office
to complete the paperwork. And every time I'm in the hospital it *is* a
vacation for me: I don't have to cook, clean house, make the bed or do
the laundry; my meals are brought to me and the mess afterwards quickly
removed; I receive clean sheets on my bed every day; clean clothing is
provided every day, or more often if I request it; if my hair needs
brushing and my arms are tired, I have someone to do that for me; I even
have someone who will scratch my back when it itches.

You're doing something wrong if you're not getting that level of
service. :>
