But this would make it slower since the following would be required:

logon to server
supply username
supply password
get number of mails
if any mails left
        get first mail
        delete first mail
logout from server

and then back up (if the number was above 1). Since it's rare that problems
arise I think you would loose on having this way to download them.
Additionally you increase the risks since you send the username and
password so often.
