In Mt. Jackson, Virginia, the community where I live, there is a Moose
Club for women only. A member of an all male lodge in some other
chapter won't be admitted unless he is invited by and accompanied with
a member of the local lodge. The same rule applies for any other man.
This Moose Club is for women only and their invited guests. They won't
let you in even if you are the husband of a member unless she invites
you. We don't have a Moose Club here for men. Maybe the men here don't
have as strong a need to get away from their wives as the women have for
wanting to get away from their husbands for a while.

You forgot to mention the Knights of Columbus and the Masons. I never
heard of The Knights of the Pythias nor the Maccabees. The Odd Fellows
lodges are still very active in Virginia. I don't think I would be
considered eligible to apply for membership because I'm not very odd.
