It may be painless, but you couldn't call it "quick". I use Arachne
for my email now only because I now longer go through the volume of
mail I used to get and because I no longer have a shell acount.

In Pine you can go down through a list of a hundred emails and mark
them for deletion simply by holding down the "d" key and get the job
done in the time it takes to do four or five with Arachne.

This is Pine from a shell account. Pine is a very robust tool even
with very minimal equipment.

It's much easier in Pine to make mailing lists, nickname files, and
do routine chores.

For instance Pine takes you automatically to the first unread message
in your "inbox" so you don't have to scroll down a long list of
previous messages that you've been too lazy to move or delete.

Arachne is an adequate tool for low volume email, a really handy
little package that I enjoy using. But if I was having to deal
with a big volume of email it wouldn't be much fun at all.

It still bugs me that my old ISP got sold out to a corporate giant
that cancelled my shell account access without warning or recourse.
One day it just didn't work anymore.
