Hmmm
... sounds like pretty up-to-date versions of everything on
both.
I'm
not familiar with that Memorex mouse. I suppose you can google and see if
any other linux users are having problems with it.
By the
way, I had asked this in my previous message:
> 4) Take a look at the output
from dmesg (or your /var/log/everything.log). Are you seeing any error
messages re: a serio device? Particularly something along the lines of
"bytes dropped" or something. If so, please post it
here.
Did you check that out and/or see anything like
I described?
Unfortunately, it sounds like I might not be
able to fix your problem. But since you don't sound too worried about it,
I won't be either.
Later,
DR

Subject: Re: [arch] X doesn't like my PS/2 optical mouse
Thanks for your interest in helping me solve my mouse problem.
For both installations I was/am running an Intel Pentium 4 266 GHz processor with 512 MB RAM. On my current installation my kernel is 2.6.13-ARCH and my version of Xorg is 6.8.2. Unfortunately, I no longer have the FC4 installation on which my optical/ps2 mouse worked. (I dumped it and installed Arch.) However, looking back at the RPMs, it appears that my kernel version was 2.6.11-1.1369 and my Xorg version was 6.8.2-31. In both cases, the same mouse was used which was a Memorex model MX4210. This mouse is PS2/optical.
Like I say, it's a bit unsettling to know there's a problem with the optical mouse. However, things are working great with my roller-ball mouse; so, while this is something I'd like to understand, we don't need to stress out over it. Life is so much better under Arch than it ever was under FC whatever, that I'm still in euphoria! :)
Thanks for the input.
