Rawat, I agree on one point with you. Mani brings out the best in Rahman (IMO). But that doesn't mean Ashutosh doesn't. He's my second fav director in terms of bringing out Rahman's magic. His approach to cinema is different to Mani's. Mani's movies are realistic, emotional and the sort that touch you deep down inside, some way or the other but Ashutosh's are a bit more poetic and he is happier (and probably more comfortable) taking some cinematic liberties whilst making his movies. I like that he does that. My fav soundtrack has always been Roja. I've liked and listened to each and every track a zillion times from a very young age and each time, I have butterflies in my stomach. But if asked for my top 5 tracks there will def be 1 from JA and 1 from Swades. Given that Ashutosh has done only 3 movies with Rahman and the soundtracks so far have been all well received by the majority of moviegoers itself says something. Tell me one thing; you didn't like Yeh Jo Desh from Swades? You didn't like Jashn-e-baharaan from JA? Swades didn't do well at the BO but it's one of my fav hindi movies of all time. It could have been better but it's still pretty solid. I think from the replies that you've had for this thread you'd gather that there is a lot of support for the ARR_Ashutosh combo. Of course you are entitled to your opinion and I respect that but you are the first Mani fan I’ve known who doesn’t like AG’s work. Very interesting. P.S: I was also a bit surprised when you mentioned Deva and Harris Jeyeraj in one of yuor previous e-mails. How doyou know these chaps? From what I understood earlier (when the there were scores of e-mails of how you were of the opinion that Vairamuthu should write a few lines in Hindi to prove his worth else his talents are wasted or something to that effect you also did mention that you’ve never listened to any songs other than hindi. So the surprise when you mentioned Deva HJ etc.

Should I give the list of major movies that were box office hits during the last 30 or 10 years. And critics? When anybody writes a bad thing about movie/ music, guys here are prompt to label that critic Anti-ARR. -- V
