Chris:
Find the Java Web Start program (javaws.exe). Run it. This will tell you the Java Virtual Machines that are installed on your system.
BTW, Mid Tier 7.0 should function just fine with 1.5.0 as it does here.
Also, which directory did you install the Mid-Tier to?
And what method of authentication are you using on your ARS server system?

Subject: Midtier 7 authentication error
Everyone,
I installed Java 1_4_03 SDK, Tomcat 5.0.28 and then mid-tier on Windows
2003 server which also has Oracle 10g, ARS 7 & ITSM 7. This is a sandbox, so everything is on the same server.
Midtier installer could not find a JDK or supported webserver, but I installed anyway after re-installing JDK and Tomcat several times.
Tomcat whitepager is pretty much UNIX only but I think I configured the variables correctly.
I am able to log into Midtier config and I can get to user login screen but it always fails with ARERR 623 Authentication failed.
The config tool still shows Java Version 1.5.0_06 which is the JRE I had originally installed since it was required by SLM installer. I have since uninstalled it.
I also configured catalina.sh as outlined in the white paper.
Our web guru tells me that I should also have a JAVA_HOME environment variable which points to JDK, so I did that too but it still does not work.
I could not find a place in the midtier where I can reconfigure the Java version ? I can only assume it get's that information automatically from Tomcat.
Any help would be appreciated.
Rgds,
Chris
