Do you have Skype/Lync application? Try opening a browser and put in the URL the SIP:emailaddress (No Slashes, that was a typo in my earlier response)
Sip (being a protocol like FTP) have MIME associations for them, so the standard browser will associate the SIP to call the Lync (or Skype) application and use the app as normal.
