I misread your original post.. I thought you were importing data.. sorry about that...
That's strange that you should get an error complaining about indexes while importing a def file.. usually you get that error when you create indexes using the admin tool if you define an index on the same field twice and try to save the form.. however the form does get saved successfully and it ignores the duplicate index you create.. and everything is good.. Hopefully the same is the case with an import of a def file.. Have you tested all functionality especially with respect to indexes after importing the form?
