Hey Norm:

You'd need:

1) An AR Server License (obviously)

2) Application Licenses for each ITSM application you wanted to use.

3) Enough AR Floating licenses for your total user population

4) Enough ITSM Floating licenses for your users based on their ITSM roles.

This is to say, if you had 800 people that you wanted to have access the
application with floating licenses (and using a strict 1 to 8 ratio) you'd
need 100 AR Floating licenses and at least one ITSM Floating license per
user, but potentially (and in almost all cases really) more than that as
some users will consume more than one license (ie Incident, Problem, Change,
Asset, SLM). The licensing scheme is a little more 'schemey' now is the
basic takeaway I think.

Subject: ITSM Licensing Question

All:

In days gone by, one could license Remedy OOTB applications (well, at least
Help Desk) by simply purchasing the minimum 5-pack of Help Desk licenses,
which would effectively "activate" the app. Users could then access the app
using standard ARS fixed or floating licenses.

In recent discussions I had with BMC engineers, I was told this is no longer
true.

So my question is, if one wants, say, 100 floating licenses for ITSM, does
he need to.

A) Buy 100 ITSM user licenses only

B) Buy 100 ARS licenses only

C) Buy 100 ARS licenses and a minimal number of ITSM user licenses
(like what I described above)

D) Buy 100 ARS licenses AND 100 ITSM user licenses

Thanks,

Norm
