Andy,
My 90% answer is Java.
And here is why:
* BMC is moving to a fully native Java API. ( They will continue to
have a C API as far as I know too.)
* There is rumor that the v7.1 Plugin Server will be support a
native Java plugin too. (So I think there will no longer be a need for
C code to build Filter Plugins, ARDBC's, and maybe AREA plugins too.
But I have yet to see any of the details on how much of this stuff is
"Java" now too. Just rumors.)
* The v7.1 Mid-Tier will support a Java based SSO (Single Sign On
solution). (According to the BUW session descriptions.)
* C is "harder" to learn and maintain than Java. [ Yea... and some
will argue about that. But if you have to learn one new language and
you had to pick between C and Java... I would take Java any day of the
week. :]
* Java is the core of JSP which is the core of the Mid-Tier. So you
get a leg up on any customizations/troubleshooting approaches for that
part of your universe.
* Worst comes to wost ( like BMC really does run ARS into the ground
) you can actually find a Job as a Java coder out there too. :)
My 10% answer is C.

will argue about that. But if you know C then you might be worth more
to someone who has C code that needs to be maintained. :]

) you can actually find a Job as a C coder out there too. :) [ I am
not sure you would want a job like that, but you could find one. ]

I would like some opinions from all my great friends here on the
ARSlist.
If you had to choose one programming language to learn (for use
with Remedy) which one would you choose?
Thanks in advance.
