Rick -

I did have a similar problem now that I think about it - it just
materialized in a completely different way. In my case it was when I
tried to access the server admin pages through a WUT in 7.1. This
actually uses the same filter API's via the plugin to read the ar.conf
file and write to it.

Add this to your ar.conf file:

Server-Plugin-Alias: REMEDY.ARDBC.SERVER.ADMINISTRATION
REMEDY.ARDBC.SERVER.ADMINISTRATION yourserver.domain.com

Do NOT do short server name - do the fully qualified domain name.

Also, make sure your hosts file has the correct entry for the fully
qualified domain name for the server (or that it resolves via DNS).

You may also wish to have the server-loopback RPC parameter setup.

** AL Push has no more effect than the Filter did. No errors hit the
log file, it just doesn't do anything to the data in the Vendor form.

Well...the reason I asked is because it's complaining about an
inability to connect to <FQDN> as you said...that's why I was asking if
an AL push has the same problem...because an AL Push should be the same
thing as setting it on the screen and hitting Save...If this worked I
think it would indicate that its a problem with how the server knows
itself...could you give that a try and let us know if an AL Push has the
same problem as a Filter Push/Escalation Set?

** I did look at that pretty closely in the config files. The
server names appear to be resolving correctly. There's no problem with
client/server connectivity that would suggest otherwise.

Are you connecting to the server via a different name
than it knows itself?...or were you when you created the escalation?
Can you try it with an AL push instead of a filter push?

** I created a field on a test form and tried to push
data in that field to the Server Information form with a Filter Push
Fields. No dice. Still trying to figure out why.

how about if you do a push to this form from
another to set the same field you are setting on a setfield in the
escalation, does that work?

** Yes, the flags and settings and all other
data can be manipulated and saved via the UT. Other Set and Push
actions did work to other forms.

Are you manually able to switch the flag
through the user tool? Doing it through a setfield or a pushfield from
the escalation, have you tried (just for debugging purposes) to see if a
push from an AL does it properly, how about a push from a Filter on a
dummy test form
