LOL...I haven't heard that one in awhile....last time I had a manager that
insisted on 'reviewing the code' we ran an ARStruct of the system...turned
out to be something like 900 pages....he wanted a printout....we duplexed,
and had the mail room bind it for him....I doubt he ever even cracked the
cover....but you could do a def, and then count how many lines are in the
def....or you could count the # of objects (al, filter, etc) and then
estimate an 'average' number of actions for each....and just multiply it
out....any of this is a dangerous situation....because the person asking
obviously doesn't know what they are asking in a Remedy system...and they
are likely looking at how long it would take a 'programmer' to re-create the
Remedy system in some other language by saying 'how long would it take you
to code a 10,000 line program'....if I'm way off base, please let me know.

Subject: "Lines of code" in Remedy?

All,

I've been asked to estimate the "number of lines of code we have in Remedy".
Any ideas on how to approach a question like that? Feel free to save your
response for Friday Humor if you prefer.

Thanks,

-David
