I am not talking about a preference server.. I am talking about the Alert tool 
preferences that can be set to either enable or disable a pop-up.
My guess is probably that your laptops and desktops are being built from two 
different images both of which have different sets of preferences stored in 
their respective images. When you log into the Alert tool, check the tool 
preferences..

Did you check your preferences for Alert on your desktops? IF your OS on your 
laptops and desktops have been installed from a standard image, maybe your 
image for your laptops is different from that of desktops and the preferences 
are set differently on these two images?

Remedy client, It works on the laptop but is not working in the desktops
