Yes I was talking of the options.. thank you for correcting me..

Another thing to check on is firewall settings..

IF your Remedy Server and or your clients are behind a firewall, you might need to set a windows environment variable NTTCPCLIENTPORT to the port that the alert mechanism is moving.. IF you have no firewalls ignore the rest of this message..

You might want to check the docs to see if NTTCPCLIENTPORT is the name of the variable for Alert - it used to be for the Remedy notifier when the tools architecture was slightly different.. They may have a different variable for alert..

I'd suggest to look for a section that talks of setting your alert tool to work behind a firewall in the configuration guides..

Joe, are you talking about the options in the alert tool, because they have been set on the client machines to enable alerts and also the flash icon is set and also won’t alert them,

Thanks !

I am not talking about a preference server.. I am talking about the Alert tool preferences that can be set to either enable or disable a pop-up.

My guess is probably that your laptops and desktops are being built from two different images both of which have different sets of preferences stored in their respective images. When you log into the Alert tool, check the tool preferences..

Rick,

Did you check your preferences for Alert on your desktops? IF your OS on your laptops and desktops have been installed from a standard image, maybe your image for your laptops is different from that of desktops and the preferences are set differently on these two images?
