Gary, License work on the following principle Users with a Fixed License login and receive a "Write Token" Users with a Read license login and do not receive a "Write Token" When a user with a Floating License logs in, the system will attempt to grant them a "Write Token" from the pool of tokens available. They keep that "Write Token" until they log off or until it expires due to inactivity. At which point it is returned to the pool of tokens available. If they have been inactive long enough to loose the "Write Token" and then attempt to make a change; The system will go back and attempt to get another "Write Token" from the pool. If no "Write Tokens" are available when they log in or make a change to a ticket, they receive the no token available message and get read only access.
One thing to note. Forms that allow users to set Auto-Refresh let floating users hold on to their Write Token. If a user has a floating license, will remedy assign them the license before they must have it? Basically, if the user is just submitting, modifying their own, and querying, will remedy go ahead and assign a ticket? I think it probably will, which I think might cause me some problems. I have a lot of users that just need a license for maybe 5 - 10 tickets per month, I was going to look into transferring them over, like 100 users to 25 floating licenses. All of these users submit a lot of tickets though, I just don't want any issues. Has anyone ever noticed if they've had issues if, say, all 100 users were using remedy, but just not doing anything that required a license?
