A hefty dose of patience will come in handy. :-) You said "other than obvious", but I'll offer this anyway. If you are planning for resources, TD needs a separate database/instance from the arserver.
Also, if you are planning on using any of the CDM extensions and have the "Minimum API version" set on your AR Server, you'll run into problems. The extension loader uses an older api version. The rest of TD is fine, so once the extensions are loaded, you can reset the minimum api version back to what you want.
