Something to always remember.. while it is nice to put everything into the cmdb, (sometimes nice and slow as well) it is better to put only what is going to be consumed by users instead.
do not scan the whole car and every nut and bolt and put it into the cmdb, if you only have an an electrician using the service. Only put in the electrical parts for him so he can use the Service you are providing him. why have 4million rows of bolt 12MM X 2 inches if your electrician is only guy looking at it.
