There should not be a problem using it. Did you try it in a development environment?
Personally I haven't used it a lot as I was able to resolve most of my user cache problems by altering stuff in the DB directly (which is not recommended way of doing it) because I felt it was easier and I had more control of whatever the issue was if I knew exactly what was wrong.
