I saw SLM 8.1.01 installers on EPD. I am still waiting for official
notification mail .
Are you able to see SLM 8.1.01 on EPD ?
Note : Few folks will have this doubt . Will SLM 8.1 SP1 correct the messed up
environment :
1] If you already installed 8.1 GA SLM on top of 8.1 SP1 ITSM then SLM 8.1.01
will not correct it.

a] when one installs 8.1 GA SLM on top of ITSM 8.1 Sp1 then version of RCF and
RAF is 8.1.01 . So SLM 8.1 SP1 installer finds that system has latest ITSM
Foundation [ RCF + RAF ] so it wouldn't correct ?
b] Also SLM 8.1 SP1 installer does not package 79 objects that are deleted by
8.1 GA SLM.
2] 8.1 SP1 SLM is released with additional application fixes and as a
compatible version.
3] Only solution for a system where 8.1 GA SLM was installed on ITSM 8.1 SP1 by
mistake is :
>> Upgrade ITSM , SRM to 8.1 SP2 [ not released yet ] or create an issue and
>> get it resolved from BMC Support or RnD team .

I agree that installers are taken for granted we can use them blindly.
#Alert being communicated :
1] 8.1 SP1 Release notes had a urgent issues section 2] This is now on ARSList
. yes, its late and 1-2 customers had to suffer :( 3] I am trying to work with
EPD folks to find if we can show this particular warning when customer
downloads SLM 8.1 GA.
#Limitation we faced :
1] The bug is in 8.1 GA SLM installer code .
2] The bug is not in 8.1 SP1 ITSM installer. Delaying SP1 was not possible
due to few customer waiting for SP1.
3] So , we couldn't pull down 8.1 SLM from EPD.
#Making Remedy Apps Better : you can always voice your views to Doug Muller who
can forward them to the BMC Leadership.

Well everyone:
This is a pretty big miss on behalf of BMC. It should have been communicated a
lot earlier in the process and via all means possible (like on the EPD site
where people download SLM 8.1 GA !! ). I went from installing SLM 8.1 GA on
ITSM 8.1 Patch 002 (no problems) onto ITSM 8.1 SP1 (big problems!). Wouldn't
think that there would be any problems or any need to re-read the release notes
on a product that I already installed and it worked before.
As the saying goes "One "Oh Shit" defeats 10 "attaboys!" . Waiting for the
next 10 "attaboys".
However, I want to thank Vivek for stepping up and admitting to the issue. It
takes a lot of integrity to step up to the plate and do so, knowing that his
name is on the line. He has also agreed to work with me to resolve the issue.
This is what customer service is all about.

Hi everyone:
I was wondering if anyone out there in arslist has installed the new ITSM 8.1
SP1 on Linux (RHEL) at all and has experienced the same issues I am
experiencing.
I had installed ITSM 8.1 Patch 002 and was working with it for several months
and everything was working fine.
On an new VM, I installed ITSM 8.1 SP1 (brand new install) with no error
messages. Working with BMC on a couple of support issues, there seems to be a
lot of "code" missing from the application. Things that worked before, no
longer work in SP1. Active links not there, AL Guides not there, data not
there, etc.
Anyone experience this or is it just something that may be local to my install
? I don't have a lot of hair left on my head and would like to save it for my
retirement years... :-)
