This gives us a lot of food for thought.
I think we should also bring in the fact that there is a huge domestic demand
and consumption within Assam and then go about computing the surplus.
To accelerate growth we can perhaps have a low tax structure for products like
ATF- Aviation Turbine Fuel and then create a Avaition Hub in Guwahati with a
world class Airport Infrastructure linked with Tourism. This can be one of many
ideas which can be mulled and refined further.
But everything depends on long term viability and reserves of Crude and Gas. If
supply cannot be sustained for more than 30 years+ at current levels the
proposition can be meaningless.
At the end we should think of creating a long term sustainable development
engine within Assam and for Assam thereby giving a possible Gujarat model of
Economy which I believe is possible.
