GPL code is copyright it's original author.
Look at the header of the assp.pl file to see the list of authors who 
have contributed code to ASSP.

I think you miss the point. Fritz wants ASSP X users to know that the 
code they are using, regardless of license, is BETA code and should not 
be used in production environments. Since the publisher of ASSP X does 
not warn his users of this Fritz is making an effort, on his own, to 
warn them.
