I don't know which ports you tell them to connect to, but those should only be 587 (tls) and, if necessary but preferably not, 465 (ssl) to support older broken clients. If they use port 25 then of course your first step would be to get them to migrate to the above ports. Shouldn't be too hard since the argument for that is solid, increased security through encryption as well as smtp authentication.
