Hi, I've been using ASSP since at least version 1.0.7, when John Hanna was still adding features, and the main ASSP script was barely 100 KB! Back then I ran assp on a single core Celeron with 1 or 2GB ram. Since 2011, I've been on a dual core system with 4 GB of ram.
It looks like I switched to v2 in mid-2011. I think my last v1 version was 1.9.1.1. I switched mainly because I has having trouble with SSL/TLS connections and wanted better support for them. >Am I the only one having stability issues with ASSP? I have them now and then, but currently it's stable. About two years ago, I was having problems with apparent ASSP memory leaks growing memory usage until the system and swap was exhausted and oom-killer killed off assp (it was a bit of a job to get it to kill off assp first, instead of mysql). I switched over to using mysql for the databases then, instead of files, and that increased the time til it needed a reboot from less than a week to about 2-3 weeks. But it would still suck up all the available memory, it just took a bit longer. However, those memory leak issues were eventually resolved with new builds. Currently, I'm still fighting some weird SSL/TLS issues, which are annoying but not critical with my workarounds. I think they may be due to my old openssl version on CentOS 5. I'll be moving to CentOS 6 soon, so hopefully they will be resolved then. >What version are others running? currently version 2.4.3(14349) with compiled perl 5.18.4 - and from Oct 2012 til just recently, was on perl-5.14.3. >Anyone else seeing ASSP run away when rebuilding spamdb, and other odd errors? No. However, I have to run a different config than others do because I don't have access to a sufficient version of BerkelelyDB on my system, and I haven't bothered to compile it separately. If I try enabling the alternate DBfile, etc, assp rebuilds run very slow and use a huge amount of resources. My rebuildspamdb (using 'orderedtie'?) takes about 40 min on 14,000 files (ending up with about 200MB of data), and system load around 1 to 1.2. I have/ /useDB4Rebuild off though, and I don't use HMMdb. Perhaps you should try disabling BDB, and then DB_File, restarting assp, and then rebuild a few times and see if you get any better results? >Anyone able to actually use the schedule cron modules and have that not leak >memory and other things? Yes, I use it, and have never had trouble with it. I haven't been able to get the scheduled auto-restart feature to work, but I already have a custom watchdog script to restart assp in case it crashes, and I monitor assp's status as well, so I don't need anything else. It was scheduling rebuilding the db twice a day, since that's what I've always done... but I've just changed it to once a day based on Thomas's advice. -C ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dive into the World of Parallel Programming.
