Thanks Eric. The password doesn't seem to be the problem as it is seeing the FTP server and actually downloading the bootROM and just has a problem updating the bootROM. How do I check the existing bootROM version on the phone?

Check the EXISTING BootROM on the phone. You can't usually downgrade versions.
