it's for the warm-fuzzy that those who buy ABE want. They want an approved vendor list, they want coporate assurances and SLAs. ABE does that, and this is the first step in giving ABE an approved vendor list. So no, it doesn't give us who don't really care for such things anything much... but it's a start at getting Asterisk into those places that do, which drives everything in terms of widespread acceptance. Polycom won't care if something in Asterisk 1.2 or -HEAD breaks the compatibility, they will only care and ensure that ABE works as intended with their phones. -A.
